Head of Care – Brain Injury Rehabilitation

Location: Birmingham
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week Monday – Friday 

About the Role:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RGN) to step into the role of Head of Care at a leading brain injuries charity in Birmingham. This role offers you the chance to make a real difference by providing strategic leadership and ensuring the highest standards of care for individuals living with complex brain injuries.

In this role, you’ll lead a dedicated team of nurses and rehabilitation support staff, delivering person-centered care that promotes independence, dignity, and respect. This is an exciting chance to join a service that supports individuals with cognitive, physical, and emotional challenges, helping them achieve their personal rehabilitation goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on leadership, direction, and supervision to the nursing and rehabilitation support team.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care tailored to individual needs.
  • Coordinate the assessment of referrals, admissions, and discharges, ensuring effective communication and planning.
  • Lead on Quality Assurance Audits and Clinical Governance processes, ensuring compliance with policies and relevant legislation.
  • Develop and oversee individual care plans, ensuring ongoing assessment, evaluation, and review.
  • Promote health education and health promotion opportunities for individuals in the service.
  • Support the Service Manager in the development and continuous improvement of service provision.
  • Act as the lead in health-related emergencies and liaise with external agencies when needed.
  • Deputise for the Service Manager in their absence.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid RGN nursing qualification with current NMC registration.
  • Proven experience managing a nursing team or ward effectively.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
  • Experience in managing complex care or rehabilitation services.
  • An understanding of the challenges of supporting individuals with acquired brain injuries and other neurological conditions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A Mentorship in Practice (MIP) qualification or willingness to undertake one.
